Hot Iron Holster – Review and Giveaway

I’m so excited about today’s post! We’re sharing our experience with a fabulous product called a Hot Iron Holster, and even better, we’re having a giveaway (More on that in a bit!) Holsters are amazing and everyone should have one! I was contacted by Holster Brands to see if I’d be interested in trying out one of their Hot Iron Holsters. I’d actually never heard of Holsters before, but once I saw what they were, I thought, “This is genius!” Well, to be honest, my first thought was actually, “Dang, why didn’t I think of that?!”

What are Holsters?

If you haven’t ever heard of Holster Brands, let me give you the low-down!

The creator of these fabulous products, found that as she was trying to curl her daughters hair, she had no place to put her curling iron because she had a pedestal sink and no counter top to place things. That’s basically how things got started. Now there are several different Holster products, which I’ll talk more about in a minute.

** Holsters are an awesome & innovative space saving product that are made out of specially formulated silicone so you can put hot things like curling irons, flat irons, glue guns, etc. in them. But they aren’t just for hot things – you can use them to store and organize all kinds of things.

** They cling to any smooth, non-porous surface by eliminating the air between the two surfaces and creating a temporary bond.

** They’ll stick to things like tile, porcelain, stainless steel, granite, marble, metal, smooth laminate, glass, wood, plastic, and more. However, textured surfaces, including some laminates and plastics, may cause the product to not fully grip to the surface.

My Experience

On Vacation

I received the Hot Iron Holster (Original) a couple months ago and just after I got it I went out of town with my husband on business. It was a bit bigger than I expected it to be, so I was happy about that. I never know what the bathrooms at the hotels will be like and so for a trial run I took my new Hot Iron Holster with me. It’s light weight and packed into my suitcase with ease. As a side note – I slipped it into a ziplock bag to keep lint and dust off it to ensure there wouldn’t be issues with it adhering to anything. While the bathroom vanity technically had room for my flat iron once our things were unpacked, there wasn’t much room for my flat iron to actually sit without touching or melting some of my belongings. I was so happy I’d brought along my Holster. I made sure the counter top was clean and attached my Holster to the edge of the counter. It worked beautifully. (Disclaimer – To make things a bit “prettier” for the pictures I did move all our toiletries off to the other side of the counter )

It worked wonderfully keeping my flat iron out of the way so I didn’t have to worry about melting any of my things. I even turned it up to 425 degrees to see how hot the counter would feel if I left it on the pink part of the Holster that attaches to the counter. I left the bathroom and got sidetracked and came back in almost an hour later. I’m happy to report the counter was just barely warm and nothing had melted! Awesome! It was great having it along for our trip, and I’m definitely going to take it along whenever I travel.

At Home

I was most excited to try the Holster at home for our tutorials. I have an ok set up in my bathroom for all my hot hair tools, but I’ve been desperately needing something for my little station I use when filming tutorials. I have a small wooden shelving unit that I use to keep all my hair stuff on, but no where to place a curling iron or anything hot. I’d even been toying with the idea of having my husband build something to screw on to the side so I could put my hot tools in something.

Enter the Hot Iron Holster!

I can even attach it to the back of our hair chair for easy use during hairstyles. The back rest of our chair, however, is a bit arched, so it hung a bit on an angle, but it still works just fine.

But my favorite place to adhere the Holster to is my little hair station. I’m in love!

It is seriously THE perfect solution to my problem! I can now have my flat iron or curling iron right there on my hair station, but it’s not going to touch other things and melt them, and I can keep all my other hair tools up on the top as I like them instead of having to clear them off when I want to use a hot hair tool. I can leave my hair tool in the Holster when it’s heating up, in between uses while it’s hot, and once I’m done I can store it there as well.

So like I mentioned before, this is genius! They’ve been featured in several magazines as well and it appears I’m not the only one who thinks they are fabulous! The best part is Holsters come in several different sizes depending on your needs – not to mention a ton of wonderful colors. If you’re looking for other sizes, they’ve got an awesome Hobby Holster that you can put your glue gun and glue sticks in. There are Holsters for putting just about anything in. You can use them in your kitchen sink to keep your sponges and dish brush in, you can put them on your mirror and the kids can put their tooth brushes in them. The uses are endless. Of course, always exercise caution when using hot hair tools or glue guns and never leave them unattended.
