“Knotty” Bubble Ponytail

While this ponytail truly is “knotty” – it’s probably one of the “nicest” ponytails you’ll ever have! After creating last week’s Knot Topped ponytail style, we took things a bit further and created this beautiful bubble ponytail. The nice thing about this is you can create different looks based on the length of hair you are working with. So it’s great because it can be done in any length of hair. Bonus!

As you can see, Bee doesn’t have long enough hair to do more than 3 sections, where as Goose’s long hair allows for a few more. If we had spaced the sections closer together we would have been able to fit a few more knots for an even more amazing look.

Step 1 – Part hair from the temples to the crown & secure with an elastic

Step 2 – Divide out 2 small sections on the side of the ponytail

Step 3 – Create a knot with these 2 sections of hair

Step 4 – Flip ponytail up out of the way

Step 5 – Bring tails of knot underneath ponytail

Step 6 – Combine tails of knot with an elastic under the ponytail

Step 7 – Make another ponytail parting the hair from ear to ear & secure with an elastic

Step 8 – Repeat Steps 2-6

Step 9 – Gather all remaining hair at the nape of the neck & secure with an elastic

Step 10 – Repeat Steps 2-6 again

Step 11 – Depending on length of hair, repeat Steps 2-6 as many times as desired

TIP: If the tails from your knots tend to “bubble” out on the back side of the ponytail, simply slip an extra clear elastic up as close to the knot as you can and that will help push the tails back into the section of the ponytail below.

FINISHED!

We just LOVE this style and all 3 girls have worn it. I love the extra “pop” that these knots give the ponytail. Here’s a little closer look at the knots surrounding one of the “bubbles.” You could totally make these bigger and thicker or messier. It just depends on your preference.

Here are some shots from the different angles. We hope you love this one as much as we do!

If you don’t have time to do a lot of these for the bubble ponytail look, or need a refresher on the basic knot itself, check out our Knot Topped Ponytail post from last week. If you like bubble ponytails you can also check out our Hair Wrapped Ponytail from our archives!

Don’t forget to share this and pin it for later!
