Hudson Turns Two

Hudson turned two on April 16 and I am just now getting around to documenting it. Just looking at the pictures, I can see he has already changed. The weather was iffy on Hudson’s birthday and we didn’t have any specific plans. We picked Eleanor up from school and daddy from work and had lunch at Culver’s. Ice cream and cheeseburgers for the birthday boy–his favorite!

Ross and I decided, since it turned out to be a beautiful day that we should head to the Milwaukee Zoo. Spring in Wisconsin can be so unpredictable! We figured it would be two of Hudson’s favorite things, he loves the zoo and they have a train! We picked Quinn up from school early and headed there.

It was a perfect day for the zoo and the polar bears put on quite a show dribbling a ball under water.

Have to throw in the mom selfie. Proof I was there, since I am the only one who takes pictures.

This birthday was the farthest thing from Pinterest you are going to find, but it was filled with lots of love and family. We came home for dinner, cheese ravioli, and cake and presents. Well, kind of cake, because I really just dumped a pile of donuts on a plate and called it a day.

He loved being sung too and getting to blow out the candles. I love watching my kids feel special. Next up, presents.

We had my side of the family over for pancakes and more fanciness–note the dollar store birthday banner and balloons.

Before we knew it, Hudson and his cousin were helping themselves to cake.

He opened presents.

Played.

We followed up that celebration with more celebrating. We brought a cake over to a family gathering at Ross’s parents where the other side of the family spoiled him too!

We really enjoyed celebrating Hudson’s birthday. There was minimal fuss, but just the right amount of fuss for a two year old boy. He had his balloons and candles and family and that is all he needed to feel special.

Hudson has really blossomed, his vocabulary is growing and the way he interacts with others and plays with them is changing. He loves to go to the park and zoo. He is obsessed with “choo choos”, cars, trucks, things that go and Bubble Guppies. He is our animal lover–he enjoys snuggling our pets. He really enjoys being read to. Since the other two have started school, he has really enjoyed his mornings with his mom to himself. He is a mix of sweetness and mischief.
