Five Ways to Improve your Physical and Mental Health
Over the past year, I have been making the push to go completely natural in both my home and my healthcare. So far, I have managed to switch my cleaning products for my house to completely plant-based. I wanted to incorporate that lifestyle into ways to improve health and wellness.
At one point in my life, I was on TEN daily medications. Now, I am down to three prescriptions and a natural, plant based gummy multivitamin.
Here are some of the ways that I’ve made this switch happen:
1. Try CBD Products
CBD has been known to improve health and wellness by targeting such ailments as anxiety, endometriosis, and treat pain without the psychoactive properties of THC. I have tried many CBD products and as a result, have been much happier and focused at work and home.
Made By Hemp is by far one of my favorite brands. This impressive company has so many options to choose from. All products have been sourced from a Pure Industrial Hemp Farm in Michigan with clean testing hemp over 99%. Their products are double and triple tested to ensure great taste and quality. They offer a wide variety of gummies, vapes, salves, and tinctures.
Currently, I have been using the Alternative Vape. Each cartridge is filled with potent, 250 mg CBD oil and will last for 200-300 puffs. There’s no mess of refilling and it’s completely hassle free. Simply inhale the good and exhale the bad.
For targeted relief for painful joints or even acne prone skin, I recommend their salves and skincare line. MadeByHemp salve has worked to target my sciatic pain and keep me comfortable while I sleep. I will usually add about a nickle size amount to the area and rub it in until it is completely absorbed. Their skin care serum has reduced puffiness around my eyes and taken care of painful inflammation from cystic acne, resulting in overall confidence boosts for me. A little goes a long way, so I usually use about a pea sized amount.
2. Switch to Natural or Plant based Beauty Products
I 100% do not want to let go of my fruity scented, bath products and my super expensive salon quality shampoo. However, these products are harmful and full of hard to pronounce and damaging chemicals.
Buhter Up offers a solution with ingredients you can actually say and the number of good items packed into the small container can be counted on one hand! My daughter and I both have hard to manage thick, curly hair and I struggle with how to keep it frizz free during humid weather. Hydrating Hair Butter has come to our rescue and keeps us silky and smooth. I use it as a leave in conditioner on wet hair. It provides lasting results without leaving us oily.
To reduce itchy and dandruff prone scalp (MY NIGHTMARE) I add a few drops of Hair Juice and massage it in before styling. The itch is immediately gone and my hair is shiny all day.
3. Use Essential Oils to Help get a Full Night’s Sleep
With my daughter in pre-school, I have to keep essential oils going throughout the house to protect us from all the germs she brings home. Sometimes, after a busy day, she has difficulty unwinding. I know, it’s frowned upon to dose those over-active kids with benedryl (JOKING) so I opt to add a few drops of our favorite ‘goodnight’ blend to the diffuser in her room.
My Favorite brand is Ancient Apothecary. This brand goes the extra mile to ensure all products are of a pure quality and are priced fairly. All oils are organic and each one that I’ve tried has been effective.
4. Try Yoga and Meditate
Clever Yoga Set is a great option for beginners. I do not claim to be great at yoga nor do I think I could even teach a class. With the Seven Piece Yoga Set, I was able to get back into my pre-baby yoga days.
I learned that the exercise blocks were great for allowing a beginner to stretch without accidentally pulling a muscle. What I loved about the mat was that it is durable and skid resistant. Even after I washed the towels multiple times, the withstood the damages and kept a vibrant color as well as a soft feel.
5. Tell Yourself Something Positive Everyday
We could all use a little of this, am I right? I often see myself struggling constantly to find one thing that’s positive. Full disclosure, I’ve been seeing a therapist and her advice was to tell myself something good that happened that day.
These little reminders are just there to keep you on track and don’t have to be anything big or eventful.
- traded one soda for a glass of water
- fussed at my kid one less time than usual
- A new episode of my favorite show was on and I watched it when it aired instead of recording it for later
- walked up the stairs at work instead of riding the elevator
Small changes in your life can make big impacts. What are some of the ways that you’ve made strides to improve your physical and mental health?
