Wonderful Wooden Toys…

We love wooden toys in our home, we have built quite a selection over the years. They are reliable, they last a long time, they’re hard wearing and to be honest they’re simply wonderful. Of course there’s often times when you can’t compete with the world of plastic especially when your child is obsessed with the latest Disney character but you can bring wooden toys into their play in almost every situation.

Some of our favourites have to be the Grimms Wooden Toys, we have the best-selling Rainbow Stackable Toy. I decided to go for the Extra-Large version after seeing all the delightful activities and scenarios created by the set.

We also invested in the wonderful Gluckskafer Wooden Rainbow Slats, they are very versatile and can be used for lots of different types of play. My daughter had lots of fun lining these up and also setting a play scene for her figures shown below. My son decided to line them up and play dominoes with them, it was great to see how the difference in ages played with them so differently.

We are also fans of the Melissa & Doug wooden toys, we have the Pizzeria set and the Sandwich making set. Both my children immediately went into role-play mode and set up a pretend cafe that they both designed and played together.

I recently saw the amazing Spielgaben Complete Package, the new updated version 4.0 comes with new components and a new extra play board. The design means you store the items in drawers, rather than multi-trays. Included is a new revised and expanded curriculum guidance, helping you and you’re children to experience the best possible experience using the system. I know the set is expensive but when you break down each element this system sells it’s self and I know for sure we would love the Spielgaben Complete Package in our home. My children would love and I’m sure use Spielgaben in their everyday life and play.
