EAT: SIX at The Baltic

Six is a restaurant and bar situated on the rooftop of the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art on Gateshead’s buzzing quayside. Formally the flour mill, this building now houses galleries and a creation area for children and school attendees.

We visited the restaurant recently located on the 6th floor and aptly names Six. With stunning views over the quayside you get so see both Gateshead and Newcastle with the iconic millennium bridge in full display.

The menu is simple with a great choice of options for both meat eaters and vegetarians. Whilst Richard opted for pork on mash and jus I went for the mixed mushroom and chestnut tagliatelle with spinach and a side of pak choi. We were able to ask for one of the main meals to be made into a childs portion for Andre, I was impressed by their flexibility and how accommodating they were.

The service was fabulous with someone available immediately if needed and the presentation was faultless. There wasn’t a long wait time for our food and the bread tray was perfect as a pre meal bite. We then finished with a delightful pudding with vanilla ice cream and toffee sauce.
