Happy Valentine’s Day

For all you whiney motherfuckers complaining that Valentine’s Day is a Hallmark holiday—although that may be true—as far as I’m concerned, with so much negativity in the world, Valentine’s Day serves as a great reminder to celebrate all things love. While I’d be perfectly content sitting at home reading a book or binge-watching Netflix (aka my typical Saturday night), my boyfriend has planned a weekend getaway to Harrison Hot Springs for us and Maximus. To say I’m excited would be an understatement. But first, I’ve been talking a lot about Chloé Love Story lately, and since today is Valentine’s Day, it only seems fitting to share a bit of my own love story.

I still remember the day I first met Maximus (yes, this is a love story about my dog). It was March 23rd, 2014. Up until that point, I had only seen him through pictures and videos that his foster mom had sent me. His flight from Houston, Texas wasn’t supposed to arrive until late in the evening, but due to a miscommunication, he arrived much sooner than expected. As a result, Rez had to pick Maximus up at the airport by himself, as I was getting ready for my blog relaunch shoot with Christie.

I came home a few hours later to find Rez sitting on the couch with Maximus by his side. As soon as I walked through the door, Maximus joyously ran over to greet me. I felt relieved, excited, and nervous all at the same time. Just when I thought it was impossible to love him more than I already did, finally being able to hold him was better than I could have possibly imagined.

Almost a year later, I still can’t believe how lucky Rez and I are. Adopting Maximus was a huge step in our then 3-year relationship, and the best decision we’ve ever made. As cheesy as it sounds, he’s a living, breathing, slobbering symbol of our intention to build our lives together, and is the most amazing four-legged companion we could have ever asked for. If you’re looking for a new pet, then please consider adoption. By adopting, you’re truly saving a life.

It’s really no surprise that both Maximus and Rez are the loves of my life. Maximus brings out the best in me, and Rez, well, despite our numerous fights, arguments, and misunderstandings, is THE most caring, most loving, most loyal person I know. *cue excessive wailing and barfing here* In all seriousness, though, I hope you all enjoy today in whatever way you see fit.
