Striped Quilt

This quilt was pieced back when I cleaned out all my blue and green scraps. My favorite part is the hand quilting. I had never quilted this traditional pattern before, but really enjoyed it, and love the way it looks. I will definitely be doing it again.

The quilting pattern is called Baptist Fans, and I found a neat tutorial for a neat way of marking them when you don't have a stencil. Here it is. If I was going to do it often, I'd maybe get the stencil, but this worked quite well I thought.

I think this quilt is a good example of how I like to mix the modern and vintage vibes together to keep the quilt from fitting into one specific category. It's scrappy, so that gives it a vintage feel. The color coded stripes give it a more modern graphic edge. Then the traditional hand quilting gives it a vintage feel again. Do I explain myself? I'm just realizing that this is an aspect I really like to put in my quilts, but hadn't verbalized it before.
