Northern Exposure Style

Have any of you ever seen Northern Exposure? It's one of my all-time favorite tv shows and my generation doesn't seem to know it too well. It was pretty popular when I was little so all my 20 something friends hardly remember it. But I grew up watching it well past it's series finale and the town, characters and stories are all near and dear to my heart. The show is about a small town in Alaska with some of the quirkiest people you'd ever meet (think Twin Peaks but without the creep factor) and a new New York doctor gets moved out there to be the new town doctor. I could yammer on about it for a while, but I'll refrain and just suggest you go watch it.

This past week I got to visit my beautiful friend Sheri in her current hometown, Seattle and she so kindly showed us a large portion of the state. We saw so much in those five days we were there including the town of Roslyn, where Northern Exposure was actually filmed. I can't imagine how silly I looked squealing and taking pictures of storefront windows and walls on buildings. Thanks to Sheri and Kathryn for humoring me and letting me have a fangirl moment in this tiny town and for snagging some shots for an outfit post. Favorite outfit post ever! ;)

That day I got to wear my new cold shoulder striped top from ChicWish for the first time. I picked it out knowing that it was very unlike anything I already owned and that I may or may not feel extra self conscious with the tight fit it appeared to have. I was pleasantly surprised that I felt super comfortable in it. I am so used to my loose fitting tops these days....I'm very thankful that boho is on trend and easy to find because I feel most comfortable styling a flowing top with skinnies. But like I said, this fit perfectly and I really like the way it looked and that it was off the shoulder. Totally not used to that though so the side sleeves kept popping up on me every time I lifted my arms up. Also worth noting, the website shows the top being styled a little differently than I did. I had the criss cross effect in the back of the top and the straight across sleeves in front. I tried it both ways and having the sleeves criss cross at the front was not doing great things for my chest >_<
