New York, Cadiz, Paris, Singapore, Berlin. I’ve had the good fortune to live in some amazing places over the last couple of years. Even if a two-month stay may stretch the definition of “to live in”.

And even during those short stays, I’ve travelled away for the weekend a lot. Being a total homebody, I’m always tempted to just stay on my couch on those rare weekends I am home by myself. But it seems a crime, when there’s a wonderful city to discover waiting just at your doorstep.

So every once in a while, I do a “tourist in your own city” weekend. Where I treat my hometown as if I didn’t have a comfy apartment waiting for me. I eat out, I may even stay over at a friend’s just so I can party to the wee hours of the morning, I reserve tickets to touristy destination.
