Fleur

I have a new pattern to show you today: Fleur. Well, two patterns really – the queen sized version and the mini quilt version.

Let’s start big and then go small:

Fleur is a queen sized, 84″ x 84″ quilt that is made with 9 super sized (28″ square) flower blocks.

These oversized, stylised flowers look great in modern fabrics, but also very sweet in more traditional fabrics, such as this version here in Bonnie and Camille’s Vintage Picnic line.

The PDF pattern contains detailed instructions, plenty of diagrams and fabric cutting guides to make your sewing experience as smooth as possible.

I’ve been a little obsessed with nesting seams lately, so I spend a lot of time on my pressing instructions. Nearly every seam nests (only a few need to be pressed open) which really helps to create accurate blocks. Aren’t seams that nest just so nice to sew together?

Now to the small:

Have you surrendered to the lure of the mini quilt yet?

This little guy finishes at 11″ square.

I love the gingham fabrics in Vintage Picnic with this pattern, but I also love it with Carolyn Friedlander’s Carkai (seen in the next two examples).

Minis are super-cute, speedy-quick and so much fun to customise with every fabric combination you can think of. I have made three so far and I’m not ready to stop yet (I have to fill this final gap…)

Like the mama version, the mini quilt has lots of instructions, diagrams and visual fabric cutting guides.

The patterns are listed in the shop for $10 (queen) and $6 (mini).

I hope you’re having a wonderful weekend, and as always,

Happy sewing!
