Australiens Ostküste – Part 1
Australien war unglaublich wundervoll! Wir sind 3 Wochen mit dem Camper die Ostküste hoch gefahren. Nicht umsonst heißt Queensland der Sunshine State, wir wurden vom Wetter und der Landschaft nicht enttäuscht!
Doch zuerst einmal zurück zum Anfang. Unser 32 Stunden Flug ging von Hamburg nach London, von dort weiter nach Hong Kong und zuletzt nach Sydney.
In Sydney haben wir tatsächlich nur einen Tag im 1888 Hotel verbracht, bevor wir dann weiter mit dem Flieger nach Brisbane sind. Das Hotel kann ich sehr empfehlen, da es sehr zentral gelegen ist und einen tollen Stil hat. Mein Tipp für Sydney ist in jedem Fall das Frühstück im Social Brew Cafe. Leckeres Essen und toller Kaffee warten dort auf euch. Wir hatten den Wrap mit Lachs, Rucola und Avocado. Yummi sag ich nur!
In Brisbane hatten wir Glück das zu der Zeit das Brisbane Festival war. Die Promenade war wundervoll beleuchtet und verschiedene Kunstwerke wurden ausgestellt. Wir sind abends dort lang spaziert und haben die wundervolle Aussicht genossen. Übernachtet haben wir im The Point Hotel, was in Ordnung war und auch recht zentral. Ich denke aber auch das es noch schönere Hotels gibt. Die Aussicht hat sich aber in jedem Fall vom Balkon aus gelohnt.
Das Abenteuer Camping hat dann auch in Brisbane begonnen und wir haben unseren Camper von Apollo Motorhome abgeholt. Gebucht hatten wir über TSA Travel. Insgesamt waren wir die ganze Reise mit dem Service und dem Wohnmobil sehr zufrieden.
Von Brisbane ging das Abenteuer die Westküste hoch los. Der erste Stop war im Cotton Tree Caravan Park. Ruhig in einer Bucht gelegen mit einem wunderschönen Strandabschnitt für lange Spaziergänge.
Der zweite Stopp war Hervey Bay, im Torquay Beachfront Caravan Park. Wundervoller Strand, Stellplatz direkt am Meer. Das Leben könnte schlimmer sein. Aber wir sind ja schließlich in den Flitterwochen! Kaum auf dem Campingplatz angekommen eilen auch direkt die neuen temporären Nachbarn zur Hilfe. Es fehlt etwas? “Kein Problem, wir können euch das leihen! Habt ihr Hunger? Wir haben Kuchen gebacken und etwas übrig.” Wow, ich sag’s euch! Ich habe selten soviel nette und hilfsbereite Menschen kennengelernt wie in diesem Urlaub. Aber vielleicht liegt das auch an der Camper Kultur oder dem Sunshine State, wo alle gefühlt immer gute Laune haben? Besonders zwei Ladies mochten wir direkt, die bereits seit fünf Jahren mit dem Camper auf Tour waren. Sie haben uns mit zu einem lokalen Flohmarkt genommen und uns wertvolle Tipps für die weitere Reise gegeben!
Das war der erste Teil unseres Abenteuers und glaubt mir es folgt noch einiges mehr. Von Koalas über die Whitsunday Islands gibt es noch mehr an der Ostküste Australiens zu entdecken. Demnächst hier auf meinem Blog!

Australia was incredibly wonderful! We moved for three weeks up the east coast with a rented caravan. Not without a reason Queensland has the name Sunshine State, we were not disappointed with the weather and the landscape.
But first back to the beginning. Our flight was 32 hours from Hamburg to London, then on to Hong Kong and finally to Sydney.
In Sydney, we have actually spent only one day in the 1888 hotel before we continued with a flight to Brisbane. I can highly recommend the hotel because it is very centrally located and has a great style. My tip for Sydney is definitely breakfast at the Social Brew Cafe. Delicious food and great coffee await you. We had the wrap with salmon, rocket and avocado. Yummi I can only say!
Of course there is a lot to see in Sydney, but we get there another time. It was more important to us to see as much of the east coast as possible. A few impressions of Sydney you can find in the gallery above.
In Brisbane we were lucky that the Brisbane Festival was at the time we were around. The promenade was wonderful with lots of lights and various works of art were exhibited. We were walking in the evening along the river and enjoyed the wonderful view. We spent only one night in the Point Hotel, which was fine and quite central. But I think there are nicer hotels around. The view was worth it in any case from the balcony.
The camping adventure then began in Brisbane for us and we picked up our camper from Apollo Motorhome. We booked through Travel TSA. Overall, we very satisfied the whole trip with the service and the mobile home. The first stop was at the Cotton Tree Caravan Park. Quietly situated in a bay with a beautiful stretch of beach for long walks.
The second stop was Hervey Bay, at the Torquay Beachfront Caravan Park. Wonderful beach with the campsite directly by the sea. Life could be worse. But hey, we are in our honeymoon! When we just arrived at the campsite directly the new temporary neighbors came around for help. Something is missing? “No problem, we can lend it! Are you hungry? We baked cake and have two pieces left.” Wow, I can tell you! I have rarely met so many nice and helpful people like this in the holidays before. But maybe that is because of the campers culture or the Sunshine State, where all people are in a good mood? Especially two ladies were really lovely, who were with the camper on tour for five years. They took us to a local flea market and provided us with valuable tips for our tour along the east cost! More to follow in my second part about our Australia tour, soon on my blog.
