Teach Baby to Communicate Baby Sign Language Kit Review and #Giveaway

As mothers we want to provide for our children the best we can. We want to communicate with them, understand them, and meet their needs, but with a little one that may not always be possible. There are many times when our babies may become frustrated and cry because we can’t understand what they’re trying to tell us.

I’m thankful my 17 month old daughter was an “early talker”. She has been communicating with us through words since 8 months old, and now she uses 2-3 word sentences. That doesn’t mean there aren’t still moments of frustration from her still limited vocabulary. I received the opportunity to try out The Baby Sign Language Kit, and I knew it would be a great learning tool for both of my children. Studies show a connection between symbolic gesturing as an infant and a higher IQ score in the long term. Plus learning to sign is fun while teaching the children a way to communicate.

The Baby Sign Language Standard Kit comes with everything you need to begin teaching your baby sign language.

  • 52 double sided color flash cards- Featuring an image baby can recognize and the hand sign reference for parents on the back, these flash cards make it easy to teach baby words they may not encounter in everyday life such as animal names and vehicles.
  • Baby Sign Language Guide Book- This reference book features a quick start guide to teach your baby his or her first signs in 30 minutes. The book then gives you the information on “more advanced topics like combining signs to make phrases, using props, and transitioning to speech.”
  • Signing Dictionary- The dictionary features over 600 signs including common words, the alphabet, and numbers in easy to follow pictures.
  • Wall Chart- The included 24” x 36” wall chart can be placed on your wall as a reference chart to keep commonly used signs visible for both parents and caregivers.

Unlike the hand gestures I made up to use with my oldest daughter The Baby Sign Language Kit reflects proper American Sign Language (ASL) signs, so the kit can continue to be used as an educational tool for older children.

We began using the kit a week ago, and it has greatly improved my communication with my daughter. I began with the Quick Start Guide to teach her the 10 basic signs. Over the course of the next day I used the signs with her as often as possible, and by the next day she was using the signs when asking more food or milk, and to tell me “all done”. We have now moved on to the flash cards, and she has picked up many of the phrases. My 5 year old, who already has a huge interest in sign language, is enjoying signing with her little sister as well as learning words and phrases herself! We will continue to use the kit to teach her about signing long after my youngest is communicating well.

The Baby Sign Language Standard Kit retails for $74.95, currently on sale for $39.99, but one reader will have the opportunity to win their own kit. Just follow the instructions below.
