Review: Wet n Wild Megaslicks Balm Stain

I’m a huge fan of vibrant lip colors. If I don’t have time to do my full makeup routine in the morning, a bold lipstick and a good mascara is all I need to feel complete. But lets get real for a second, creamy lipsticks don’t last for very long. I find myself having to re-apply almost every hour if I want to maintain the look. Matte lip colors tend to last way longer, but they’re not flattering if your lips are dry.

Due to the problems I mentioned above, lip stains are my usual go-to. They last a good chunk of the day, and I don’t have to worry about getting color all over my boyfriend when I kiss him (he hates that!). The only problem with stains, is they aren’t friends with chapped/dry lips either. But what about moisturizing lip stains?

Favorite budget-friendly cosmetics brand, Wet n Wild, has a moisturizing stain that I’m currently in love with.

Below is me wearing the MegaSlicks Balm Stain in Red-ioactive. I applied it about 30 minutes before the photo was taken.

Since it contains acai palm oil, it went on extremely creamy, and there was no feathering (a common issue when using vibrant color).

Right after the photo was taken, my friends and I went to brunch at one of our favorite Brooklyn restaurants. I sipped on tea throughout the meal, and I ate a large entree. As I ate, I felt the creaminess of the color disappearing, so I assumed the color itself was pretty much gone as well.

The photo below was taken immediately after brunch.

As you can see, the color stayed on throughout the meal! My lips are currently very dry (go away winter!) and you can tell in the after photo. The color is still intact, just not as vibrant. Other than that, I’m extremely happy. And for $2.99, how can I complain?

Now that I know it has staying power, I think applying it in the morning before work, and right after lunch would be your best bet. If you’re not eating a meal, the color stays extremely vibrant. The second application would be to touch up the color and re-moisturize the lips.

Below I’m wearing Truffle In Paradise – which didn’t last as long as the color above.

It’s a bit vampy, which I love!

Should You Buy It?

Pros: Extremely moisturizing and it does have staying power. It also does a good job at hiding chapped/dry lips. It also doesn’t feather and it won’t leave marks if you’re kissing someone special :)

Cons: The cap for the color doesn’t stay on very well, so keeping it in your purse might be risky. To avoid a purse tragedy, just keep one at home, and one at the office. All colors aren’t created equal either; the red one lasted way longer than the deep berry color.
