10 Awesome Educational Apps For Kids

Lately I have noticed that the boys are asking for my phone a lot more. I let them check out the YouTube Kids app which has plenty of educational clips but I really was in the market for full apps (both free and paid) so the kids could have a choice of what they wanted to play with.

I don’t let them get the phone often, really only while we are travelling on the trains or at home after all homework is done. I am not the biggest fan of apps that are more like video games so I compiled a list of apps that are not only educational but are fun too!

Elmo Loves 123′s ($4.99) Android, Amazon App Store – This super popular character app from sesame street features coloring books, Sesame Street videos and sing alongs with Elmo.

Funbrain Jr. (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch) Built for Apple devices this app helps your 2-6 year old learn their letters, numbers and fine motor skills.

Disney Story Channel App (Free) – This apps has many different Disney stories featuring all of your favorite Disney characters–warning you could end up spending a lot of money on more books because the library is so vast! Think about this app as a kindle for Disney stories.

Read Me Stories: A New Book Everyday! iPad, iPhone (Free) – What is cool about this app is not only is it free it gives a brand new book every single day–and if you like it some of the titles are available for purchase and can be sent to you directly from Amazon. Love that!

Sprout Games and Video: This popular app is based on the popular Sprout channel. This app is filled with plenty of videos and games to keep your preschool busy learning!

Alphabet Aquarium: iPhone, iPad, Android (Free) – 4 Puzzle games including a puzzle all about letters and animals, one of the highest ranked and most popular apps to help your little one to learn the alphabet!
