5 Ways To Keep Your Workout Playlist HOT!

Since I can never workout without music I am always on the lookout for new music. Having an old stale playlist can deter your workout motivation quickly! Today I am sharing 5 easy ways to make sure your workout playlist stays HOT!

5 ways to keep your workout playlist fresh

Spotify radio

I love Pandora, and I even love Songza* but something about Spotify wins me every single time. Ever since I got the premium account for ($9.99) a month I have been a self appointed Spotify ambassador. Here why:

1) You have access to pretty much 98% of every song EVER made. Current songs, songs from your childhood, songs that your children will love (hello kidzbop!) and more. Having this kind of access makes you feel very powerful!

2) You can listen to these songs OFFLINE! That’s right, on the subway with not a lick of reception, I am listening to one of the hundreds of songs I have downloaded to listen to offline (and they don’t take up as much space as a regular iTunes download!)

3) They have a radio feature that helps to dredge up old music that you forgot you LOVED back in the day. It’s GENIUS people.

Go through old playlists

If you are anything like me you love a good playlist. I tend to save my playlist and then when I get a new group of songs create a new one. Go through old playlists and find songs that make you want to move everysingle time you hear it. Those are the songs you want to be on your playlist forever and ever.

Install Soundhound on your phone

Ever been in public and heard a song that is just amazing, or even watching a TV show and you wish you could just find out what the name of that song is? SoundHound is here to help. With this music recognition app you can nail down the song name and artist, and all in one swoop either download it on Spotify OR purchase it on iTunes.

Consider different genres/decades

Your workout playlist doesn’t have to have the latest and greatest hits! I have been known to throw in songs from the 60s, 70s, 80s AND 90s! A great way to find songs in multiple decades is to think of ONE song you like for example: “Janet Jackson: Escapade” In your favorite web app (Pandora, Spotify etc.) hit “play radio” the app will select more songs that are similar that you likely would have loved as well from that time period.

Ask your friends!

My friends often come to me and tell me what sng they heard and they thought would be perfect for my Zumba class. Unfortunately we don’t have the time to listen to the radio all the time or watch music videos to see what is new. Your friends are likely sitting on a gold mine of awesome music!
