From the Attic // A Hauntingly Beautiful Photo Shoot

Over the past few years, I've shared several photo shoots here orchestrated by a very talented photographer named Kelsey Goodwin. She initially submitted a gorgeous warehouse shoot back in 2012, followed by this stunning winter shoot in 2013, and this whimsically stunning shoot for a good cause last year. Today, I'm excited to be sharing yet another of her unique projects. This one is slightly different as it was a quick shoot that was actually put together for behind-the-scenes clips for a new television show that Kelsey is co-hosting. Nevertheless, the resulting images are hauntingly lovely.

I asked Kelsey to tell us a little bit about the inspiration behind the photographs. "I wanted her to look very vintage," Kelsey explained. "The dress she is wearing was actually her mother's prom dress! I wanted her to look like someone found her in an attic, dusty as though forgotten, and statuesque. To create this look, I blew the flour on her from afar so it settled on her naturally, then I had my assistant sprinkle handfuls of flour from above for the snowy effect. My studio still looks horrendously dusty, but the resulting effect was well worth it." Agreed! I'm thoroughly impressed by her creative use of flour(!), costuming, and light to achieve her desired aesthetic. Simply beautiful.

You can view more of Kelsey's amazing work via her website, blog, Facebook, and Twitter. And stay tuned in the upcoming months as we'll be featuring her on a more regular basis around here.
