Review and Giveaway: Butter London Patent Shine 10X Nail Lacquers

These Butter London Patent Shine 10x nail polishes ($18 each) have been released for a while now, but I’ve finally had the nails to really test them out. Essentially, these are some of the leaders of the trend toward high-coverage, high-shine, long-wearing nail polishes that offer the convenience of a gel application without the equipment (or the difficulty of removal). According to the line, this line offers:

1. Long-wear for up to 10 days
2. Shock absorbing & chip-resistant
3. Salon colour coverage
4. Gel-like cushion and superior shine
5. Fade-resistant colour
6. Formulated to smooth nails
7. Formulated to Strengthen nails
8. Prevents breakage and peeling
9. Visibly brighter, more radiant nails
10. No formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, DBP, toluene, camphor, ethyl tosylamide, or xylene

These are available in a full range of shades at Nordstrom.com, Sephora, Ulta, Beauty.com, Macys.com. When Butter London sent me these four polishes for review, they included two additional sets of these four colors. I’m happy to give them away–just use the form, below. All photos are taken with two coats, no topcoat or base coat. What you see is what you’ll get.

Butter London Chat Up is a medium blue cream that has excellent coverage in two coast.

Butter London Her Majesty’s Red is a beautiful searing red. You can see some nail lines through this two-coat application, a third coat would have erased that.

Butter London Shop Girl is a light cool opaque nude cream. Light colors are tough–usually I find that these are too sheer. In this case, Butter London Shop Girl hide my nail lines, applied smoothly and well in two coats. To me, this is an impressive feat. It’s rare to find an opaque light nude that applies this smoothly. Although not as high-shine as the others, Shop Girl does give a soft shine.

Butter London Over the Moon was my favorite of the group. This gray-green seaweed color is unusual, neutral and flattering. I’m going to love this during the winter. Overall, I love this Butter London formula. I’ve found the application easy (even in the wee hours of the morning, as I check through email). It’s durable, opaque and gorgeous. Excellent work!

If you’d like a chance to win a set of these four (4) polishes, please enter your information in the form, below. I have two (2) sets that I’ll be giving away from this form. This is a very short time frame–the give-way period starts tonight at midnight and ends on Sunday, August 9th at 11:59 p.m (all times are Eastern). This give-away is limited to U.S. residents.
