Fall lookbook

Autumn in Mission is not always my favorite time of year. Summer seems to end abruptly somewhere partway through September and then rain rules the valley until the following May...or later. So far I haven't done very well in this climate, as far as dark, rainy days go. I remember this time last year asking Devan in a bit of a panic, "Is it always this rainy here?" because apparently I thought it was an exceptionally rainy fall, even thought it was completely the norm! I am prepared this year, though, new rainboots, sun lamp and all. I will get through this; I really will.
This year, Hudson is at an age where he doesn't always want to ride on his stroller, and instead loves to walk along with me, pointing out neighborhood cats, picking flowers, and yes, stepping on fallen leaves. After one rainy day in September, we were walking to the playground and Hudson was dismayed that the leaves had turned soggy, and did not make that delightful crunch one expects to encounter when stomping on them. I thought, 'Yeeeaaahhh...get used to it, kid!' but decided not to burst his bubble, and instead told him (crossing my fingers all the while) that one day they would be crunchy for us again.
Well, turns out one day was the next day, and the dry weather stretched from then, allll the way until Halloween. Truly, we've had an awesome fall! Ty has had request upon request from teachers wanting him to sub in their classes, so he's hardly had a day off since the start of the school year. It's been more fun than challenging getting into our new routine, suprisingly (yes, we've had our share of learning experiences, and lately things have taken a downturn with sickness and baby issues ruling the house) - so here are a few of our highlights:

Hudson brought a slug that he caught in our yard and very cheekily named "Mommy" to his first show and tell day at preschool. The slug laid eggs in the jar a few days later. Awesome and horrible all at once. Also a note about preschool: after all of my high hopes, he had a TERRIBLE first day, and I considered taking him out - but he begged me to go again, and now we're two months in, and he just loves it. He has a big fat crush on a girl there, so that may have something to do with it. He is constantly singing songs that he learns there, and telling me that he loves his teachers. Today the first thing he did when he walked in was give Mrs.Wendy a hug...so although he is young, I know it is the right place for him to be!

My makeup drawer is considered off limits. Enough said.

Apple Barn field trip with pre school. He was having a goofy day if you can't tell!

Felix was also having a goofy day :).

Brother pictures before church!

They are so gorgeous - each in their own way.

A few shots from Thanksgiving.

Here is our Halloween. We had a fantastic evening trick or treating with our young 'uns! Our neighborhood is full of young families, and it was great being out in a throng of people all costumed up. We avoided some of the "scarier" houses though - seriously, our neighborhood really goes all out for holidays! Many people commented on how much they loved Hudson's homemade costume. I had a lot of fun making it. A little homely again (like last year)? For sure! That's part of the charm.

I dressed up as Rosie the Riveter. This is Ty's creation :).
