One Third (2014) (English)
Three guys robs a bank and hides in a night club. They are hiding from the police, but the police is not the biggest problem, for they don’t know who they can trust. Several people are out after the money, and they are dangerous killers.
One Third is an entertaining film with lots of colorful characters. At first it seems like this is a more comical version of Reservoir Dogs, but it doesn’t take long before we get to see a typical Japanese crime comedy with some strange characters you just find in Japanese films.
As readers of the blog knows, I really hate the talentless Tatsuya Fujiwara. He has one of the leading roles in One Third, and I was surprised that he wasn’t as bad as he usually is. I have to thank the script for that, because he is held back and there is just one occasion where he overacts. And I really enjoyed that he got fucked in the ass by a man, yes, he is raped by a man and he gets a sore butthole! I enjoyed that scene, he really deserved that after so many shitty performances in his career.
One Third also has a young woman with the ugliest legs I’ve ever seen in a film. She must have anorexia, because her thighs are so thin and bony that I almost puked up my dinner. And she thinks that she is really sexy! Get a grip, you skinny spider woman!
This is a film where everyone fools everyone, but who is the smartest one? One Third never gets boring, but this isn’t a film where you care about the characters. Everyone is crooks and scumbags, and it’s interesting to see who will draw the longest straw.
