The Coffee House on Cherry Street

Josh and I love visiting local businesses here in Tulsa and everywhere. We get to travel a lot to see our families and for various reasons for our jobs. When we do go somewhere for an extended time we (okay I) do a lot of research beforehand about where we want to shop, eat, visit locally. We dont want to go to Seattle Washington and eat at a Ruby Tuesday...no way! We want to eat where the locals eat, shop where the locals shop and so on and so on. The last few years weve been to Seattle, Portland, Chicago, Austin and all over. I made a point to check out local businesses before hand and had our trips scheduled out as much as possible. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to see whats really true and local to each city. That doesnt mean we never shop at Target, visit a starbucks and such but if we can we try to support our local businesses as much as possible. This is something we have done since before we were even married seven years ago and is a big part of our life. I thought it be only fitting to share our local business adventures with you here on my blog. So today Im sharing my first Local Business Adventure today. Maybe this series needs a new name. Ill work on it.Anyhow, for my Birthday a few days ago we went to a local pizza joint and then walked over to a well known local coffee shop called The Coffee House on Cherry Street located on Cherry Street in Midtown Tulsa. Its a great little place, cozy and colorful. I like it. Weve seen some friends play live shows here, brought friends over to play board games and things like that in the past. This time we grabbed some drinks and a slice a pie to celebrate my 28th birthday. I got an iced skinny caramel latte and Josh got a peach smoothie (hes not a coffee drinker). We also grabbed a piece of pie that I was only able to barely sample because Josh consumed its delectable flakes so fast I barely saw it. It was an amazing piece of pie and I dont even like pie. ha. It was all so good. Inside they have areas to sit and plug in your laptop if needed along with a great little state and curved couch for musical goest viewing. they also have a lovely little porch outside. I love this little place and its quirky front porch. I cannot go on with out mentioning the amazing mural on the side of the building. I will get an outfit photo in front of it some day. I cant wait to share more local adventures with you guys. In fact, these next 12 days in our life are going to be full of traveling and crazies. Tomorrow morning is Penelopes first ballet recital and Joshs side of the family is coming in town to see it. (my family lives 8 hours away...little far to drive for a ballet recital and its one of my brothers college graduation so theyll be in Virginia anyway). So their visit and the recital will keep us busy for the next two days. On Sunday Im setting up shop at the Hanson Fan Festival here in Tulsa and Im looking forward to that. Immediately following the show we are packing up our car and heading to Springfield Missouri for a few days for Joshs job and kind of an alumni type thing for the college we graduated from. In the middle of the week we are heading further down south to Houston Texas for my other brothers high school graduation and my other (the one graduating from college) brothers wedding shower. Jeez, thats a lot of other brothers in one breath. So well be wandering around the country for the next week. Cant wait. Seriously. In the meantime Ill be checking out all our favorite hang outs in Springfield Missouri where we used to live before we moved to Tulsa and finding some new places in Houston. Houston is so huge...so many things to do.Ill be blogging soon, maybe even today about my goals for the next year, kind of a birthday goal type of post. Ill be blogging all through my travels as long as I have internet connection...Im so looking forward to these next 12 days. Its going to be so fun and Ive been looking forward to this time for months now. So let the fun and adventures begin...right about....now.Love, Erin
