Eastern Europe Essentials

Excited/daunted by the prospect of downsizing my typical luggage into a meagre little backpack. Here are some of my essentials. I think most of my back crippling will be down to the books I'll be lugging around with me, I'm a big reader anyway and I always take guidebooks wherever I go (Not the most intrepid explorer). Instead of taking my usual haul of literature I might just settle with an enormous Russian novel to try and preserve some space. Ps. Anyone have any Bratislava recommendations....the guidesbooks are few and far between and I need some help!
