Favorite Wears: How to Pattern Mix for Spring

Patterns on patterns on patterns: Nothing like exiting winter with a splash of patterns. And because some days the weather is not totally spring-like, I prefer to ease into my overly floral and summery looks. I liked the mix of windowpane and leopard with this floral skirt to keep it right on season.
What makes all these patterns work together: 1. The size of all the prints vary. That's especially important for the top and bottom - the shirt is a large scale print, while the skirt is smaller in scale in comparison. 2. Coordinating colors, in this case... black flows between all three prints. 3. Neutrals - the top and shoes are totally neutral and could be paired with just about anything. The skirt is the focal point of this outfit.
What holds you back from mixing prints? Or if you are a print mix-master, I'd love to know your favorite mixture!
{Outfit Details: Dress/Tunic (worn as a shirt), Skirt, Flats (this year's version), Necklace, Bracelets: Tory Burch for FitBit and two from Madewell}

^^ P.S. wore this outfit to visit a new hotel in the Kansas City area, AC Hotel. It's located in Westport (mid-town of Kansas City). It's super European and chic. I loved the rooms for their open design (don't worry, private toilet/shower area), simple decor and clean lines.
But what I really ate up was their bar and lounge area (see a pic of their cool bar wall here) - anyone can stop by and start your night here (whether staying in the hotel or not), and I encourage you to check it out! They had some really awesome and unique drinks, great small plates and cool vibe happening. There are even some tucked away tables if you're on a date and want some privacy.
