This is my first time attempting the leadlighting technique, and I love how it turned out. Leadlighting is when you apply a sheer color over a stamp to add color and dimension. The best part for me is that this was almost all done with gel polish except for the stamped image. Revel Nail recently launched a new Spring 2015 gel polish collection that consists of many sheer-based jelly and crelly (creamy jelly) polishes. Some are so sheer that it made me want to try them out with this leadlighting technique.
For the two stamped nails, I started out with a white base using two coats of Revel Honor. I used Mundo de Unas black stamping polish and stamped the floral pattern onto these nails using Messy Mansion stamping plate #MM46. This is a new plate that they recently launched with nine floral patterns.
Below are swatches of the Revel Nail colors that were used in this design. All of these swatches have three coats of color.
Revel #49 Los Angeles is a bright pink crelly with a glowing shimmer. You can still see a bit of VNL with three coats, but it has decent coverage and is a fun color for summer!
