Review: Dior Eye Reviver Backstage Pros Illuminating Neutrals Eye Palette
Dior Eye Reviver Backstage Pros Illuminating Neutrals Eye Palette is one of Dior’s latest offerings here. It was only launched nationwide this month and I think it was initially available at limited boutiques. It is an eye candy for sure, and who needs another neutral palette? I surely don’t, but my brain knows no logic when it comes to neutrals, especially cooler neutrals like this.
The palette consists of a powder primer which neutralizes redness on our lids, 4 shadows and one cream liner. If you don’t like a mix palette (powder and cream) then you might not like this. I expected Dior to include their signature “door flap” to separate the cream, but that’s not the case. I am not too bothered by it however, because the cream is drier in texture hence doesn’t attract powders all too much. Since we’re talking about the liner, let me just tell you that on me, this liner STAYS ON without transferring, even without a primer. While the texture is dry and hard to touch, it is quite pigmented when applied with a brush. I’ve been reaching for this liner to tightline and I don’t look like a panda after a few hours. Thumbs up!
This Eye Reviver Palette consists satiny eye shadows and they soft and buttery. The swatches below show only 2 passes, on unprimed skin. I believe the shadows show up much better on lighter skin. The pigments show up well on my light skin, but I find that they are made iridescent, so the finish is softer and lighter. I wouldn’t say they are sheer eye shadows – perhaps somewhere between sheer and pigmented? Illuminating is an apt word for a name as the eye shadows do just that. Illuminating without overpowering. Makes sense?
Also, if you noticed, the primer and the lightest eye shadow look slightly different in tones but when applied on the lids, they look the same. I would have personally preferred it if they kept only 1 lighter shade, and add maybe a darker warm brown. As you can see from the swatches, the colors lean cool. If not a dark brown, then perhaps a mid tone matte wheat shade to act as the perfect crease shade. Just a thought
Other than that, I have no complaints about this palette at all. The colours are beautiful, the texture better than some of the permanent quints and the liner, amazing. They blend beautifully, and with a primer, they last all day on my lids. Without a primer, the colors tend to fade after the 5 hour mark. For this palette, I find that I favor using only perhaps 2 of the shades together. I don’t see the point in using all the colors in 1 look because there isn’t enough contrast for that. All these shades look beautiful worn as a single lid color. I will be creating a look for this Sunday’s stash shopping post, so stay tuned for that!
