MAC Lipsticks: Comparison Swatches
It can be tricky ordering lipsticks online. I’ve found that I can look at 3 different Pinterest pictures of the same lipstick and it looks like a different shade in each one! It doesn’t help that I’m very fair skinned so the shades just don’t look the same on me. If you’re treating yourself to a higher end lippie, online shopping can lead to costly mistakes. My chronic pain condition has descimated my disposable income (all of my income in fact) so if I’m buying higher end products these days, I have to be really bloody sure they suit me!
I appreciate that it’s difficult to capture colours accurately in photos; I find it really tricky myself sometimes. The shades shown in the above photo look like they’re pretty similar to each other; IRL they really aren’t! I’ve managed to get some accurate snaps of my favourite MAC lipsticks swatched on my NW15 skin, so I’m sharing them with you guys!
The MAC lippies I currently own are:
- Mehr (Matte)
- Syrup (Lustre)
- Velvet Teddy (Matte)
- Whirl (Matte)
I also love Twig & Brave but am trying to avoid replacing them yet; I have dozens of lipsticks! We’ll see how long my restraint lasts 😉.
I should mention that Velvet Teddy was one of my online lipstick buying mistakes. It just doesn’t suit me. Check out my ‘I’ve Broken up with Velvet Teddy’ post for a more detailed look at that. My favourite of these shades is Mehr, it’s a gorgeous & versatile colour. Syrup is also lovely and is a shade that works with a variety of skin tones; yay! Whirl is my most recent purchase and creates a gorgeous Autumn statement lip if you’re as pale as I am.
So, here’s how these shades look swatched on my skin (NW15):
Remember, if you’d like to check out more detailed reviews of each shade, links are included in the above paragraph 😊.
