Zoya Paradise Sun collection

Ring in the summer season with gooooorgeous summery nail polish shades. YES baby! Mama is ready. I received a press sample of Zoya’s Paradise Sun collection and at first glance, these polishes are remarkable. I mean, what’s not to love?

They’re bright and they shimmer. That’s all that matters, right?

Aphrodite is a vibrant red with a micronized pearl metallic finish that lived on my nails a total of 3 days before I ended up removing it. This is my favorite shade in the bunch because it’s such a striking red and that shimmer almost reminds me of Christmas time. Which, you know, I could celebrate year ’round…

Isa is hard to define right away because is it blue or is it purple? Zoya says this is a deep blue-based purple and really it depends on where the sun is shinning. On me, it always leans towards the blue side and I’m okay with that as the shimmer is really what makes this polish come alive.

Remember how I always said I really only like wearing pink polishes with a kick? Mae would qualify! This warm magenta pink is so insanely bright but that shimmer makes it so much wearable for anti-pink girls like myself. Mae makes for a fabulous pedicure color, too!

I’d love to be friends with someone named Oceane. Because how cool would it be to have a name like that? While not as shimmery as her counterparts, Oceane’s true turquoise with a metallic finish is still a great summer shade. Not insanely unique, though. It is far more of a vibrant blue than what my camera was able to pick up.

Genesis is my second favorite shade because I LOVE how white nail polishes look on me. Unfortunately this crystalline white was such a streaky pain to apply. It took a good 4 coats to reach an opaque finish and once I did, I found that the polish looked a bit bumpy. I’m going to work with this one a bit because that pearly finish is just too pretty to not put to good use.

Selene is a lot like Oceane in that this true teal’s sparkle isn’t as bright and shimmery as the rest of the shades. This isn’t a complaint as it is still a pretty color. It definitely leans more on the emerald side but my camera has a hard time picking up those blues/greens.

OVERALL

What a different summer collection! Nothing realllllly amazed me and I’m okay with that. I’ve realized that it takes A LOT to appeal to a nail polish aficionado who has seen just about every color variation known to man. Some collections are really meant to attract the newbies and I think shades like Aphrodite and Mae will easily do that.

As always, you can score Zoya polishes from Zoya.com for $9/bottle or snag the entire collection for $54.

Any shades sticking out to you?
