A MODERN + ARTISANAL INSPIRED TABLETOP

Just two short weeks ago I was asked to design a simple but refined tabletop for a 20-person dinner at a new private space in Seattle. Since launching The Emerald Studio last year, we’ve been hard at work with interior clients, but – other than events hosted in our own space – have yet to design a setting for others. So I was thrilled to hop in on this project, even at the last minute, to put together something special for this dinner…

The pastel and leather drop chairs set the tone for a more muted palette. The vibe the client wanted was ‘kinfolk-ish’ which we created with very simple dishes and rich linens. However – not being one for too much simplicity, I added abundant florals and touches of brass…

There were a few extra guests who we sat at coffee tables, and I love the way the settings looked against the marble as well. After instagramming a few photos from the evening, many of you were asking for resources, so I thought I’d give you a quick little post to provide more details!

1. vintage brass candlesticks // 2. red and white wine glasses // 3. porcelain tea lights // 4. brass napkin rings // 5. linen ‘suits’ napkin set // 6. black matte flatware // 7. ‘welcome white’ dinnerware

Had we had a bit more time to pull the table together, I would have loved to source a few more true artisanal items for the table, but as it was we had a quick turnaround time and to get 20 of anything in a week can be quite the challenge. So, we opted for the artisanal look at places where we could easily grab everything we needed. My favorite might be the linen napkins, especially paired with the super simple napkin rings we found.

These are the candlesticks we actually used – and sprayed brass because we couldn’t find brass ones that we liked anywhere. A collection of worn vintage ones would have been great too.

I’m hoping to get some professional photos of the night to share with you all too, but for now, I hope you enjoyed the peek! Shop more ways to get the look here:
