How to Dress Like An A-Lister at the Gym

I am a master at avoiding exercise. For ages my favourite excuse was “there’s no gym nearby”, until one opened up around the corner, squashing that justification. So then it became, “I’ll join next week, I’m just really busy at the moment.” Followed by the faux-surprised, “oh yeah, I forgot all about that, I’ll take care of that first thing tomorrow.” And here we are, months later, and I’m still not a member of a gym.

My problem is quite simple: I lack motivation. Paparazzi photos of celebrities in their workout clothes are one of the only things that can get me remotely interested in exercise. And yes, I realise this sounds totally superficial, but who hasn’t killed time by Googling celebrity gym style before? Nicole Richie and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley have the most enviable wardrobes, FYI.

So with that in mind I put together a little A-list-inspired gym kit. Statement leggings? Check. Colourful sneakers? Check. Oversized sunglasses? Check. Obnoxiously expensive designer handbag? Check… Hopefully it will inspire me to hit the treadmill!

And whilst we’re on the subject of celebrities acting as motivation for exercise, have you seen the episode of The Mindy Project where Danny becomes Mindy’s personal trainer? The only way he can get her to give 100% is by creating fantasy situations in which Mindy has to rescue celebrities from danger. It’s one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen on TV. Sadly the clip isn’t on YouTube but it’s season 2 episode 12 in case you care to find it on iTunes.

Do you also use celebrity gym style as an exercise motivation trick? And where do you shop for your workout wear? Let me know…
