My Style | Dressing For the TV BAFTAs

The BAFTA Television Awards 2015 took place on Sunday evening and I was lucky enough to attend with House of Fraser, the event’s title sponsor. This wasn’t actually my first time attending the British Academy Television Awards (which is bizarre, considering I have absolutely nothing to do with TV), so I knew I could expect a fun, celeb-packed night.

Most guests get red-carpet-ready at the Corinthia Hotel, which is home to the BAFTA Styling Suites, so I met Really Ree and the HoF team there in the afternoon. St.Tropez, MAC and Mark Hill were in charge of beautifying everyone, whilst House of Fraser provided evening wear for last-minute dressers.

The House of Fraser Red Carpet Edit

I opted for a slinky Lauren Ralph Lauren column dress (from HoF), accessorised with delicate Carat London jewellery. There were so many gorgeous gowns to chose from in the House of Fraser collection (seriously, I had no idea their occasion wear edit was so strong), but I didn’t want to wear anything too dramatic and look like I’d deluded myself into thinking I was a BAFTA nominee. {Print bomber jacket c/o Boden}

Once everyone was dressed in their finest we hopped into a fleet of waiting cars and headed over to the Drury Lane Theatre, where this year’s awards were held. The red carpet was mental, with the biggest cheers of the night went to Danny Dyer and James Corden.

Graham Norton presented the awards, and I hope all of his catty remarks went out in the TV broadcast, because he was on his A-game. I think he’s absolutely hilarious, so was pleased that he picked up an award for Best Comedy Entertainment Programme. Besides The Graham Norton Show and the occasional episode of Eastenders I don’t really watch much British TV, so the international category was the only group I was really invested in. True Detective won, beating The Good Wife (my favourite), Orange is the New Black and House of Cards.

And speaking of The Good Wife, Archie Panjabi (AKA Kalinda Sharma) was sitting directly behind me at the post-awards dinner held at the Grosvenor Hotel. I was geeking out BIG time, along with many others on the House of Fraser table, which is the only suitable reaction when Kalinda is less than 2 feet away.

We had such a wonderful evening in the Grosvenor Hotel ballroom, which was giving me major 1970’s-showgirl-on-a-cruise-ship vibes. Everyone was in a celebratory mood, so I’m sure there were lots of sore heads on Monday morning!

Did you watch the The House of Fraser British Academy Television Awards on Sunday evening? And what do you make of my look?
