The Skateboard Swing

Those kids. Can you even believe how BIG they are?

Lucy has long hair and opinions and sneaks pink lip gloss out of my purse. She has a favorite song (Uptown Funk, which she calls “Hot Dance”) and favorite food (Doc McStuffins Fruit Snacks — I’m sure they are full of corn syrup and poison but you know I pick my battles) and favorite shoes (Frozen Crocs ballet flats).

And Jon David. Can we talk about the joy and the heartache that is an almost 11-year-old boy? He knows everything, yet asks 400 questions a day. He thinks I’m embarrassing, yet gets upset if I don’t pay him enough attention. Boys this age…are truly an enigma. I spend half my time trying to figure out what the right thing to do or say is.

But he’s also helpful and loving and agreeable and so funny and INTERESTING. He loves origami and books and chess. He holds doors and tells me I look nice and asks if we can have mother/son dates.

Kids. I just love them. Even though sometimes at the end of a long day, I am forced to drink cheap wine in order to survive.

My husband brought home a surprise for the other day — a Skateboard Swing.

I had never heard of them, but apparently they are becoming QUITE. THE. THING. He hung it from a huge tree in our front yard and it was literally minutes before half the neighborhood was over.

I’d love to say that it was only kiddos (I counted 11 total at one point) but I saw several dads giving it a whirl. Apparently the magic of the Skateboard Swing is not limited to children only.

The thing that makes this swing so cool is that you can ride it a ton of different ways. Standing up, standing up sideways, sitting down. Two people can sit on it sideways back to back. There are all kinds of possibilities!

Jon David is at the age where he’s started to grow “too cool” for playground equipment, so it was fun to see him and his friends get so excited over a swing. They spend HOURS outside on it!

Lucy thinks that the swing is HERS ONLY and gets very upset when Bubba tries to sit on it with her.

She gets her way a lot.

If you don’t have a Skateboard Swing, I can’t recommend it highly enough!! We have kids hanging out all the time just dying to give it a whirl. And trust me — in the thick of Summer boredom, that’s a lifesaver.

Go play on the swing, kid. I’m trying to read my People magazine.

**The Skateboard Swing people do NOT know me and did not compensate me or provide a swing for review. We just love it and I love you. So I want you to love things that I love. Love is always good.
