A Spring Themed Dresser Edit

While us folks in the tropics have been well into spring (for nearly a month!), the fact that the rest of the hemisphere is getting its due sunshine makes me feel less uncomfortable talking about spring color palettes and spring cleaning. I spent most of my Saturday going through piles of makeup, reorganizing it and editing my dresser into a very “peachy-pink” and “bright” theme and getting rid of anything “deep”, “dull” and “heavy”.

Since the introductory post on my dresser, a lot has changed but only in terms of the stuff I have piled on top of it, and it sure does look more crowded than it did when I just got it! We all knew that would happen, I mean if I have a dresser whats the point of NOT using it to keep stuff?? So keep I did.. some stuff and now its a whole lot livelier!

Fragrances

My usual spring suspects are out and about here, including Chanel’s Chance EDP, Jo Malone’s Orange Blossom and Guerlain’s Flora Nymphea. All flowery, all very fresh and not at all heavy, just the way I like to smell in summer! Also the much neglected Caudlaie’s Beauty Elixir has been brought out to show some much deserved attention and use as this stuff just WORKS in the hotter months! I don’t use it as much as my Avene Thermal Spring Water Spray but in the mornings a spritz or two just before and after applying makeup this infuses the perfect glow and dew to the face which lasts me a while before the air conditioning wrecks it!

Skincare

I won’t dwell much on skincare here as I already have a long post penned on the topic ready to go. A lot has changed, obviously, lighter textures and “fresher” cleansers have been introduced but the focus is still on hydrating the skin and keeping it soft and supple. Two carry overs are the Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate which I have only just crossed the half way mark with and the Reve de Miel lip balm because, you know, how else are my lips going to live? Aesop’s Resurrection Hand Balm and its gorgeous citrusy fragrance is my night-time/day-time go-to hand salve. It not just smells great but is incredibly good at keeping my hands moisturised for a really long time besides, its not greasy which is perfect for the weather.

Makeup

I decided to use my drawer more judiciously and moved all my makeup down inside it. This helps keep most things clean and not clutter my dresser. I have been (much to my surprise) wearing eyeshadows nearly everyday for the past few weeks. The MAC eyeshadow duo and the Zoeva brushes have a lot to do with it by making the access and application a breeze! I have my MAC quad and duo in here along with the Nars Smudgeproof eyeshadow base and also the Chanel illusion d’ombre in Mirage. The next section has “Spring-summer” written all over it with every single piece either a peach blush or some form of pink and gold. I’ll have more details on this in the upcoming makeup post for April so tune in for that!

For base, my Dior Nude BB creme is on its last legs so I am about to (sadly) finish it soon. I haven’t been wearing much foundation or concealer on a daily basis so whatever’s in there suffices perfectly.

One product though which I rediscovered is the Guerlain Terracotta Light Bronzing Powder in Brunette and I LOVE IT. I have no idea why I have been neglecting it (probably the shimmer content) but its beautiful right now, and the Zoeva blush brush works like a charm with this one! I realised that I have accumulated enough bronzers to last me my lifetime (and then some) and I will need a couple of “Me” to use everything up! If thats wasn’t bad enough wait till you see my blush stash. out of hand.

L to R: Chanel’s Pygamillion, Chanel’s Liberte Rouge Coco Shine

Lipsticks are pretty much on the same lines as the brushes and as per usual the sheer and juicy ones get extra points! Chanel’s Rouge Coco Shines, Dior’s Lip Glow, YSL Rouge Volupte Shines and Glossy Stains are the pick for the season. Although, I need to give a special mention to this combo I’ve been wearing for the past week; Dior’s Lip Glow topped with MAC’s Spice lip pencil is my custom peachy-pink lip with oodles of hydration and amazing staying power! I can always control the amount of lip pencil I use which adds a browney peachy color along with plumping my lips a little bit (not that it needs any but.. oh well!)

L to R: Deborah Lippmann Naked, Estee Lauder Dilettante, Chanel’s Elixir

I definitely need NO more makeup! Hope you liked this, let me know what you’ve been loving and looking forward to in Spring!

Happy Sunday!
