Ready to Wear Skin Perfection Serum Foundation and Highlighter Review

I can never resist trying out a new foundation, I am based obsessed despite having my favourites.

This serum foundation from Ready to Wear was a completely new product to me – I’ve never heard of the brand or used many true liquid serum foundations before. This base comes in 5 shades from Light to Dark and it combines the benefits of a serum and the coverage of a liquid base. It doesn’t contain oil or water and leaves a soft focus finish.

The highlighter stick is part of a set (which also contains a mascara and powder) and I wanted to try this as my NARS Copacabana is almost dead and also I find The Multiples give me acne with continued use. This multi use highlighter can be used all over and has a white pearl finish (different to Copacabana which is slightly more pink).

Here are the swatches – you can see the highlighter is very white, has a strong sheen and quite pretty pigmented. The foundation despite being runny, holds well (as you can see not running off my hand) and offers good coverage despite it’s thin texture:

I have Medium Deep for my NC35 skin tone and it works well.

I was somewhat cynical about this product because it’s sold on a TV shopping channel (Ideal World) and I thought, what is the background to this make up? But – having used the products for a while now I really do like the serum foundation! It’s so different to any of the bases I have (it has a dropper by the way because of it’s runny texture) – it can almost get away with being like a tinted moisturiser for those who like light bases BUT at the same time, it does offer a blurry-softening effect to the face with light-medium coverage (over redness but you can still see some brown spots):

I have the highlighter applied to my cheekbones here too – I though it would be too pearly and white but once again, it blends well. It has a different feel to the NARS multiple but I can’t say it’s a bad thing, at least this stick doesn’t give me spots!

Another angle:

The highlighter is part of the Hydraskin Set (£29.99) and the foundation (£29.99) is also available. You can watch Ideal World TV on Sky 644, Freeview 22, Virgin 747 and Freesat 812.
The base is really worth trying if you want to use a watery texture base which decent coverage and a smoothing feel (sort of like a serum-silicone). You also only need a few drops.
