Drawing With Colored Pencils On A Hot Summer Day

When the temperatures are too high to even considering venturing out for summer fun, take out some colored pencils, long forgotten drawing journals, and even some how-to-draw books to get the kids interested! And if you are lucky, at least two out of three children will be enticed to spend a nice chunk of time simply drawing!

While I generally wouldn't encourage how-to-draw type books, they can be fun once in a while, and for kids that really don't have the confidence to draw otherwise, well then using such books is preferable to not drawing at all. My ten year old, who does have the confidence to draw nonetheless was so very proud of his airplanes and truck, which look great done with colored pencils.

My daughter on the other hand? Well as you can see the how-to-draw books didn't call her name, rather she spent several hours making a series of fashion illustrations! I hope she'll use them to make a garland of some sort, which of course I'll share with you!

So dear readers, with all the crafting inspiration available to all of us, don't forget to overlook one very important creative exercise, drawing!
