All Star

Because I’m a v. important person I was recently asked in an interview (that’s a story for another day) what my deal with sportswear was. With both All Star Weekend and Fashion Week happening at the same time this week I thought it was the perfect time to address my love for the style. Besides numerous open bars, the combination of this week further fortifies the relationship between athletic wear and streetwear. I personally love wearing things that people say I can’t. What I can’t wear Adidas soccer pants and sneakers to work? Pshhh. It’s interesting to see how far we’ve let this trend go. 4 years ago when #menswear was going hard with Americana or dandy peacocking who would’ve thought that we’d be seeing hi-tops and tracks pants flood the runways and every streetstyle slideshow. I’ve said it before, while I value being comfortable, I’d rather stunt because my mother raised me right. With street/sportswear you can pair the two. And let’s be honest I’m not complaining about a style that let’s me get away with wearing sweats to work as long as I say it’s “trendy.”
