The Best Sunscreens For Sexy Skin: Hampton Sun, Vichy, Bioderma, Consonant & Jane Iredale

Why “sexy” you say? Because sunburnt skin is so NOT sexy, but soft, warm and glowy skin is. It makes you feel good, and feeling good is ninety nine percent of being sexy. I abused the sun in my youth, wearing the likes of baby oil and the ubiquitous Hawaiian Tropic Dark Tanning Oil – yikes! Well, no more. I’ve discovered that sporting lots of sunscreen while I spend the day outside yields a glowing complexion. I also love a good umbrella, for shelter from the sun. Those sunbeams are bouncing off everything! Even sitting under an umbrella, wearing sunscreen, I still get a bit of colour. Here are my favourites:

Best Facial Sunscreens: I could not choose just one, as I have a few in my skincare arsenal that I adore.

Consonant The Perfect Sunscreen SPF 30: this one is terrific, for so many reasons. Consonant skincare is perfect for all skin types – dry, oily, sensitive, acne prone etc. I adore this facial sunscreen as not only does it protect my face, but it has a soft tint that makes my complexion look terrific, even makeup free by the pool or at the beach. It lasts and lasts, doesn’t clog pores, and does what it says. It also works as a terrific base for your makeup, if you want to use it that way. Fragrance free, for sensitive types.

Jane Iredale Powder Me SPF 30 Dry Sunscreen: Seriously genius stuff. Using the sponge applicator is a bit tricky, and takes some getting used to, so one doesn’t apply too much. I got the Golden shade, and if I over apply, the colour looks too dark. I tend to put this on, then use a clean large soft brush to blend it. That said, as soon as it’s blended it, it gives a sunny bronzed look that stays put while protecting the skin. The portability is a plus, as is the “no make up make up” flawless skin it gives. My Jane Iredale Pure Pressed Base is SPF 20, and is something I wear every day. I love the Powder Me SPF but suspect I would get the Translucent shade next time.

Best Luxury Sunscreen: Hampton Sun Continuous Mist SPF 55

Best Sunscreen For Sensitive Skin: Vichy Invisible Mist SPF 50

Vichy Invisible Mist SPF 50 sunscreen has be tested under dermatological control on 100% sensitive skin. Hypoallergenic, non-comedogenic and paraben free. The Invisible Mist is also integrated with the Vichy Thermal Spa Water which is known to fortify, soothe, and regenerate the skin. It has a very soft scent, and sprays evenly and easily, without clogging pores or causing any irritation. This is especially helpful when swimming in salty or chlorinated water, when one’s skin is more apt to be irritated. I love Vichy sunscreens. We have sensitive skin in this household, and I can’t imagine being without it.

Best Moisturizing Sunscreen: Bioderma Photoderm Spray SPF 40:

In addition to its surface UVA/UVB protective activity (filtering systems), Photoderm Spray SPF 40 offers real internal biological protection: Cellular Bioprotection®. This exclusive patent preserves and stimulates the skin’s defences (immunity) during sun exposure. The first thing I noticed about this sunscreen when I first applied it was how it made my skin look and feel. It is a lotion spray, and so it needs to be rubbed into the skin and blended after spritzing. It also smells wonderful, with a fresh and airy scent. I just love how it makes my skin feel soft and moisturized, which is especially great after swimming.

Best Smelling Light Sunscreen for Late Day And/Or Occasional Sun: Hampton Sun SPF 15 Gel

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this product. Yes, I know it is only SPF 15. But, this sunscreen smells so good, and makes your skin so glowy and healthy looking, it is perfect for legs, or any exposed skin that may not be out in the sun for long. I call it my late afternoon/evening party sunscreen. It is a spray gel, and it is softly scented with Privet Bloom, as are all the sun products in the Hampton Sun line. Seriously, somebody in Canada has to bring this line in. It is my favourite sun care line.
