Kismet

I do not exactly have a favorite season, just a favorite feeling.

The winter season in New York has been record-breakingly frigid. There are no runs in Central Park and my usual visit to Spotted Pig was a fail {thanks to an extra long wait}. I can’t walk the High Line or make the familiar stroll afterwards to Madison Square Park. Taking the subway is usually one of my favorite things to do but it’s so overbearingly freezing that even a one-block walk to the station provides early stages of frost bite. There is no love on the city streets; the only comfort that is being offered is a cold slap to the face.

However, I cannot help myself from loving this particular trip to the city like none other.

I do not exactly have a favorite season, just a favorite feeling.

It’s the imperceptible strength of the sun as it fights to provide warmth through closed curtains. It’s the contagious and uncontrollable laughter that breaks out between best friends. It’s turning up the heat on a bubble bath after a long day and enjoying a glass of red wine while warming up. It’s the buzzing butterflies flying in your heart when you dance or crawling into bed knowing that time is on your side. It’s spending the entire day with your best friend then having a 45 minute heart-to-heart phone call once you get back to your hotel. There may not be love in the streets, but there is love in my heart and soul.
