Catching Up

Hi everyone! Its been such a whirlwind week...I have some blog catching up to do.

Tuesday: Dress Barn skirt, The Limited top, Nine West shoes, Lia Sophia necklace and earrings.
In addition to my classes and work this week, I spent a good chunk of time preparing for Saturday's showcase performance. On Monday, it was all about classes and work. Tuesday was studio time, and finally getting the all of the choreography for the Saturday's showcase completed. Talk about last minute. Wednesday, I hung out with Rhonda for shopping, lunch and a practice session at the studio sandwiched in there. Rhonda came to the studio and got to see the whole process of preparing for a performance. Thursday I saw my 'ward'; the client I guardian for through the volunteer guardianship organization. Friday was the job interview.
I'm not sure what the outcome of the interview will be; but I'll be saying some prayers for job offer. I've second guessed myself and my answers to the questions that were asked; I've replayed the interview in my head many times....and then I realized that it does no good to do so...so I let it go and got ready for my next scheduled event....a big fancy Mary Kay breakfast event on Saturday morning and the showcase on Saturday night.
Rose signed on a a Mary Kay consultant at the breakfast and I'm so excited to have her as my team member. She and her daughter were my guests and both had a great time. Rose won a drawing and took home a HUGE basket stuffed with Mary Kay products and other goodies, Kristen won a ring and I won a handbag. WOW!

Wednesday: Shopping and lunch with Rhonda and practice in the studio. Thrifted sweater and black faux wrap dress. Lia Sophia necklaces (both retired)

Wednesday: Purple leather Mizz Moos shoes; oh la la!

Saturday at the Mary Kay event. Thrifted Jones New York wrap dress. Nine West suede dress boots.

At the beautiful Avalon hall; the venue for the Mary Kay 'Breakfast at Tiffany's' breakfast event. Lia Sophia 'Endeavor' necklace.

My delightful lunch on Wednesday at Meditrina

Beautiful tablescape at Saturday's special Mary Kay breakfast

Just arrived at the showcase venue; in full makeup and hair.

Major swoosh going on here!

Dancing a hard core Tango to Bon Jovi's "Its My Life".

Our dance was well received; it was dramatic, fun and entertaining. If you look closely at my eyes, you can see the high drama makeup; I even got Marcel to dress in character with some leather wrist cuffs and choker. I like to go all out when I perform a showcase :)

It was an incredibly busy week and today...I'm exhausted. I'm going to take a breather this upcoming just stick to school and work and saying a few prayers for a job offer this week.

Dress Update: I have decided to purchase the pre-owned yellow dress that I borrowed for the Indiana Challenge competition. If you remember, I had posted some pics on a previous blog post before the comp asking for opinions. I've made my decision; the dress is staying with me.
I sent a picture of me wearing the dress at the IC to the dressmaker Designs to Shine and asked for some details about the dress. They sent me pictures of the dress and told me that it was custom made for a top level competitive amateur. This designer always names her dresses and this one is called "Blueberry Lemondade". The original price was $5000.00. I purchased it for 10% of that price....! I could NEVER pay 5K for a dress, but at 90% of the original price its a deal I can't pass up. Its incredibly difficult to find a beautiful, high quality ballroom dresse that meet all of the dancer's needs at an affordable price. Fit is important; if a dress needs anything more than minimal alterations, the cost goes up dramatically. I didn't have to do anything but replace the bra cups. Often, used dresses are not in great condition. Even dresses in mediocre condition command high prices; sometimes the chiffon will be snagged, many stones will be missing or the inside of the dress will be stained with self tanner. Yuck, that stuff does not come out. This dress has been been pre-owned by two top level amateur competitive dancers, but its in great shape and comes with all that "great dancers wore this" good karma. I feel like I hit the ballroom dress jackpot. I just love it.
Wishing you a beautiful week!
