Handmade Gift Ideas: Simple Useful Pretty Pleasers!

May is packed full of weddings, anniversaries, birthdays and Mother’s day celebrations for us. Which means a lot of gifting! I love finding and giving handmade gift ideas for several reasons. One it supports other artists and crafters, two the quality can be amazing and three you can get quite a bit of bang for your buck. Recently I did a little trend spotting. If your at a loss to what to get mom still, or just looking for gift ideas for someone’s birthday here’s a few picks that caught my eye you might also enjoy.

I wouldn’t worry that it would be to mom on the day of when ordering your gift almost on Mother’s Day. Show her a picture and give her a card saying it’s handmade and coming by special delivery. Your sure to win her over!

My top pick is the tea towel shown below. Maybe it’s because we are redoing our kitchen and I’ve been spending more than a little time in there lately between projects and baking. I think this is a great pick for any mom who loves being in the kitchen. The tropical blue handmade tea towel would be a perfect addition to anyone’s home with upcoming summer entertaining. Speaking of homes did I mention my second oldest, my son and his wife just got their first home!? This is super exciting for them. You know what else that means add another gift to my list- Housewarming!

Handmade Gift Ideas:

What was the best housewarming gift you ever received? He’s asking for a lawnmower, she wants a vacuum. Practical but, I don’t want to give them something that would break years from now. I want them to have a gift that has meaning and memories. I spotted this handcrafted wood serving bowl that is large and dipped and paint. This would be such a versatile and pretty gift. They love entertaining. You could serve salad, pasta, bread or…. from it.

Sammie’s and my second youngest Krissy’s birthdays are in May, not to mention my daughter in law, grandson and a few more! For the ladies headband scarf tops my list. We live in CA. and when we head out to the beach would be a great pick for a windy day when the fog comes in. My other pick the cute cactus zipper pouch.

For Sammie she’s really been into drawing and I spotted these two handmade journals with quality paper. Blue Bicycle Journal and Green Leather Journal Perfect for tossing in her backpack and drawing where ever she goes.

  • I fell in love with the cross body bag. I love the earthy green suede leather.
  • Not shown that I’m crushing on this five inch brass arrow spoon. I’d love scooping up a little something with when baking. Could I be so over indulgent?
  • A pair of custom Toms with arrow design great for light summer trekking.
  • Who’s feet want these Loofahs with tea tree and peppermint foot soap!? Help mom get sandal ready?
  • My neck wants this cute trendy silver bulldog necklace.
  • Scented Soy Candles Simple and clean burning. With many scents to pick from!

Seriously, I could go on and on. But, the laundry needs to get folded! Back to reality. Do you have a favorite pick for gifting or for yourself? To all my mom readers I hope you have a beautiful upcoming Mother’s Day. I hope you enjoyed today’s handmade musings.

Moms what’s on your must have list?
