Smartti Home styled by Laura Seppänen

Helsinki- based interior designer and stylist Laura Seppänen recently got in touch with news of her latest project. Right up my alley in terms of beautiful Nordic styling, the apartment is a tiny 26 m2 studio apartment for YIT, a company that develops new housing solutions. Their latest concept, Smartti, is a flexible solution that combines functionality and adaptability at affordable prices. In place of partition walls, the space is divided by cabinets and sliding doors, which in addition to providing more storage space can be easily adapted to the resident’s wishes and changing life circumstances, without extensive renovation. The innovative homes come with a range of pre-designed interior styles that make them more personal and adaptable to different lifestyles and preferences. Presented to the public at Kansalaistori in Helsinki on May, Laura styled this Smartti home for a young women who owns a flower shop. She says "My aim was to use as ecological and organic materials in the furniture and textiles as possible, such as wood, cork, wool, rattan, flax. Green plants bring colour to otherwise calm tones and neutral surfaces. The items that I used in the decoration are mostly collected from a local shop owners and entrepreneurs." I love that Laura has taken an eco-friendly approach, while achieving the perfect balance of simplicity, style and function.

Ideal as city homes and for students, small families or senior citizens who move to urban centres to gain better access to services, the Smartti model will be presented in ten Finnish cities during the summer and autumn.
