Shaping Colour by Germans Ermics

Latvian-born, Amsterdam-based designer Germans Ermičs’s project, entitled Shaping Colour, explores glass as a prominent material used in our everyday surroundings, like architecture, interior design, and furniture design. Most of the time, it feels cold and flat, so Ermičs wanted to find a way to get around that in order to display depth and softness, both of which are not thought of when it comes to glass. After rounds of experimentation with glass layering and printing techniques, the results are a sculptural console, mirror, and table that begin with color and build from there.

From Ermičs:

Instead of finishing a product by painting it. I started from colour. By initiating a dialogue between shape and colour, I aim to unhinge the traditional roles in what defines a product.
