What I Wore: Roman Holiday

Soooo… I wasn’t actually on a Roman Holiday, it sure felt like I was! Between my braided, pinned up hair and this Trashy Diva dress, I was channeling a certain rebellious princess. All I need is a little scooter and the cobbled streets of Rome to complete my adventure!

Instead, I had a Prius and the pothole ridden streets of New Orleans. A girl’s gotta work with what she’s got!

It’s not often I take photos from my front porch, but when I do, there’s something about it that I actually love about it. The combination of grit and romance. The wild weeds and flowers that grow up our porch rails, combined with the car cluttered background. The garbage cans and rickety chain link fences against the colorful background of bricks and multicolored homes.

It’s both pretty and decayed, gritty and romantic. It is, in many ways, New Orleans at its truest. It’s not the fine mansions and sprawling oak trees of St. Charles or the romantic history of the French Quarter. It’s the bumpy side streets tucked away, where the neighbors sit on the front porch, and where we live.

In November I’ll be one year into my new job. It’s really flown by, and I feel like I’m still learning the ropes. With that comes learning how to express myself and my ever evolving style in a way that feels appropriate. So days like this, when the pieces come together, and I feel at my best…well, I just want to recreate it all of the time.

I love this dress so much for feeling like “me” and “me at my best.” So much so that I also own it in yellow, as well as both versions of the Lilian Dress. The Lilian Dress has the same bodice as the Maria Dress, but has a slimmer skirt. The Maria Dress has a glorious full circle skirt WITH pockets. Best ever.

Remember when I said I find what I like and buy it in multiples? Yeah. This is exactly that.

What I Wore:

Trashy Diva Maria Dress (also in yellow)
Black flower earrings by Mallory!
Jeffrey Campbell Lovin flats (purchased with c/o Shopbop giftcard)
