If you want to do a lot of good for your favorite charity, you might be on the lookout for fresh, exciting, and original ways to get the word out and encourage people to make donations. Both tried-and-true methods and experimental approaches have their merits. All that matters is that you successfully raise funds for your nonprofit. For that purpose, we’ve compiled a list of creative ways to raise money. Read on to get started.

Design Clothing

If you are a charitable person who also enjoys designing, you should use your talents in this area. Create a fantastic graphic that can be printed on everything from baseball caps and T-shirts to buttons and bumper stickers. You could also include something clever or interesting that comes to mind. People will take notice of those who wear these items, and many of those people will likely be interested in learning more about the organization or cause that the wearer is representing. Additionally, the proceeds from their sale can be donated right to the organization.

Hold A Garage Sale

There are always things you have lying around the house that no one wants or needs anymore. A garage sale or tabletop sale is a great way to get rid of unwanted items and raise money for charity at the same time. You can set uniform prices for everything, or you can hold a “pay what you choose” sale where customers donate whatever they feel they can afford, regardless of the size of the item they purchase.

Any unsold items can be donated to a charity store like Goodwill. Even if the cause isn’t the same as the one you’re supporting, everyone could use your support.

Do A Sponsored Sport

Consider organizing a sponsored walk, run, swim, or bike ride if you’re looking for a unique way to raise money for a good cause. To receive the contributions, you would have to complete the task for which people would pay you money per mile (or an overall amount, if that is what they prefer).

Make sure it’s hard enough that people will take notice that you’re trying something out of the ordinary, but not so hard that you can’t pull it off without risking injury to yourself. If you want to finish the job before the donations start rolling in, pick a task that you are already familiar with.

Or why not arrange something the whole community can take part in, like a charity baseball game? You can have dugout cards printed specially for the event, and the money from the tickets can go to charity. It’s a great way to get everyone involved.

Baking

If you want to raise money for a good cause, baking is always a great idea. People love baked goods, and if they can buy some that will help a good cause, it makes the deal even sweeter. You can also get everyone in the community together by having a bake-off. Baking is something that people of all ages and skill levels can do. This will help your charity even more because there will be a lot more cake and cookies for sale than if you did it all by yourself.

You can also charge more for baked goods made with a “secret family recipe,” as long as you give the recipe to the customer so that they can make the same thing at home. This is an extra way to give money that shouldn’t be ignored.
