Burgers & Beaches: BRGR.CO and Camden Beach

I have a passport! I emailed the passport office last week telling them it had been three weeks since they’d received my passport. They replied to me telling me it had been three weeks since they received my passport.

I replied, pleasantly thanking them for telling me what I already knew and asked if they could, ever-so-kindly, inform me when my passport would be arriving. I was told to call and see if it was possible to upgrade it.

Lo and behold it was printed and sent flying across to me. Ta da! They don’t tell you this but because of all the delays, if you call and say you need your passport urgently for travel they will upgrade it to the premium service for free.

So now I have a shiny new passport with a shiny new name! So we’re leaving London in two weeks but more on that later…

While the next couple of weeks will probably be filled more with packing and farewells, I have been trying to pick off some of those things to do in London, while I can. It’s guaranteed they will never all be done but then then I will never be done with London, so I can live with that.

One of the places that wasn’t on my last list but has been on the mental to do list for a while is BRGR.CO. The first time we tried to get a table at BRGR.CO it was too busy. But this time we were walking past looking for food in Soho, me getting all hangry, and then we spotted it. Burgers? Brgrs!

I have this unwritten mission to try every good burger place so I can eventually have an amazing world encyclopaedia of burgers in my mind. I’m also very ‘judgey’ when it comes to burgers. A bad burger is a waste of good calories that could have been spent elsewhere, but a good burger is worth the oh-holy-cow-why-did-I-just-eat-you feeling afterwards.

BRGR.CO’s burgers are worth that feeling, as are their parmesan truffle-oil chips which are just wrong on so many levels that it makes them right (two wrongs do not make a right but three? Possible). I chose the butcher’s choice, because butchers know best when it comes to meat ,and mentally high-fived that butcher when I was done.

The Burger

The Chips

London has its more-than-fair share of burgers worth running 10k for so it’s a tough place to compete. BRGR.CO’s burgers are up there with the good’uns.

After the meat-fest we decided to check out the ‘beach’ in Camden. This was one of my to-dos because it sounded like a cute concept but to be perfectly honest, it sounds more fun than it actually is in my personal opinion.

It’s cute and I think it’s worth checking out but it’s not really a beach. It’s a roof with sand on it. Jono and I sat on the edge of ‘the beach’ drinking our overpriced bears pointing out the ombre hair and making naughty sand people, which was fun, but on a sunny day I’d pick a picnic in Hyde Park or a drink outside by the Camden lock over the Camden beach any day.

So where to next then? Well there will be a beach, of sorts, and there will be a lot of burgers. Also pizza, deep dish pizza… Are those enough clues?
