DIY Elephant Artwork

Yesterday one of my most recent design projects was featured on Glitter Guide! How cool is that? Make sure you head over to check it out and get some design tips on how to decorate a rental. This one was quite the challenge because not only could we not paint, but it was in a basement with no windows!!!! Photographer Rima Brindamour is a genius with a camera, because it was not an ideal room to shoot.

This room is one of my all time favorites, because I literally love every piece in it, but one of my absolute favorites is the elephant artwork.

When I was shopping for this room I saw the perfect piece of artwork when I was browsing through One Kings Lane:

Only problem was that it was too large for the space so I decided to make a DIY version myself for my needs.

I found a free elephant clipart and then used FotoFlexer to change my image to orange:

The backgrounds look black, but it’s that way because the elephants actually don’t have a background so that you can layer them over a colored background.

With the help of FotoFlexer I was able to layer it over the lilac shade I picked. You can also do all this with photoshop, but I’m still learning how to do use it.

Here are my finished pieces:

If you would like hi-res images of them please email me at [email protected] and I can send them to you. The files are way too large to place them on the blog.
