My Exercise Routine

For people who know me personally, this post will probably be a surprise/shock, because 1) I have always hated sports, and 2) I never do any form of exercise. Ever.

These past few months I have been feeling so lazy and tired, and very unmotivated to do anything. I sleep in far too long and stay up way too late at night. I have also realised just how unfit I am. So these holidays I was determined to start exercising, so that I am able to run 10m without feeling like I am going into cardiac arrest. I can't do anything very strenuous yet, but I've found a few exercises I actually enjoy and am slowly getting better at them. I've had this post requested by a few people now, so I thought why not give it a go! So without further ado, here is my exercise routine...

PILATES

I decided to give Pilates a try, as I'd heard some really good things about it (and also want to increase my flexibility for dance). I have followed Blogilates on YouTube for a while now but have never tried any of her videos, so I decided to start her 4-week POP Pilates Beginners plan; it's filled with Pilates, Cardio workouts, fun exercises and even includes recipes. At the beginning it was hard (very, very hard) and I admit that I couldn't always keep up and had to take quite a few breaks. But I am getting better and better and am really enjoying all of the fun new exercises. You can learn more about the course HERE, and below are 3 of my favourite videos of hers.

DANCE

One of my all time favourite ways to exercise is dancing. I've been attending dance class since I was 3 years old, but funnily enough I never really looked at it as 'exercise' because it was always so fun. I do Tap, Jazz and Modern classes, so am at dancing 3 afternoons a week. I would love to pick up something new this year, whether it be Ballet or Musical Theater, but unfortunately I don't think I will be able to fit it in with school and blogging. My all time favourite dance style is Tap; I'm currently doing Tap 6 Alternate and love it so much. Besides the fact that dancing is fun and a great way to exercise, get fit and increase your flexibility, you can also meet amazing people and make great friends.

WALKS

I attempted my first run a few weeks ago but only made it just past my house, so I decided to stick with walking for now until I am more fit ;) I sometimes take the dogs with me for a walk in the evenings - the air is a lot cooler and the sky is so beautiful at that time of day. My playlist when walking is always Taylor Swifts new album on repeat - 1989. What is yours?
