WEEKEND MOMENTS / APPLE PICKING

I am starting to really love Sundays these days. And I am really hoping we can create some more inspiring sunday rituals when the weather starts to get much colder. Over the summer months we often spent our sundays visiting estate sales and the market, with a stop somewhere along the way for breakfast or brunch. This Sunday was another memorable one, it may be end of September but the weather felt more like that of mid-july. After a quiet early morning walk for his and her lattes, we jumped in the car to go see an estate sale in a house that we would never be able to afford in a million years, up at the top of the mountain with a beautiful panoramic view of the city. After we left the sale with a few goodies (her-the usual kitchen everything / him-a vintage walnut base record player), we had brunch at a new spot I had been dying to try out, Manitoba (more on THAT in an upcoming post / spoiler: it was awesome).

After brunch, we drove out to Hemmingford, feet up on the sunny dashboard (mine at least) to pick some apples at the Philion Ecological Orchards. I can’t wait to start cooking up some cobblers, pies and turnovers. And BUNDT CAKES! I have a few really great old bundt cake pans – I really ought to put them to use. I swear my kitchen is turning into an antique store. Lets just hope we don’t eat all the apples before we get the chance to bake them.
