7 Reasons The Outer Banks is Beach Wedding Perfection

Handmade Wedding Blog | Emmaline Bride® - Handmade wedding blog for detail-obsessed brides.

If you’ve ever considered a beach or destination wedding, I wholeheartedly recommend The Outer Banks for your destination. I can say that whole-heartedly because I’ve been there — multiple times! — on family vacations in the past, so I have seen first-hand what it has to offer. While vacationing, I’ve seen actual weddings taking place on the beach. I’ve also seen hundreds of wedding photographs of couples who got married in The Outer Banks. It is truly a gorgeous place to wed. The Outer Banks has some of the most beautiful beaches, stunning landscape, and some of the coolest beach houses I’ve ever seen. OBX, as it’s often referred to, boasts dozens of amenities for couples choosing to wed here. Today we’re sharing seven reasons why a beach wedding in The Outer Banks is a match made in heaven. Read on to find out more…

The Outer Banks Weddings

1. It’s a destination wedding spot — without the passport.

If you’ve always dreamed of a beach wedding, here’s your chance — and guests don’t even have to travel out of the country! No passport needed here, and yet you still get to enjoy total beach wedding heaven.

2. It’s family-friendly.

The Outer Banks offers anything you could need while at your wedding nearby for guests of all ages. Families with children will find restaurants that are kid-friendly, along with convenience stores for anything they could need (and beach stores with all of those extras they maybe forgot to bring). There are also tons of kid-friendly activities nearby that children will enjoy, like learning about the history of flight at the Wright Brothers National Memorial, or learn about The Lost Colony. This means while guests arrive and get settled in, you can rest assured that everyone is having fun and staying busy before the wedding day arrives.

3. The beach houses are amazing.

The beach houses you can rent for lodging are incredible! Many of the houses are very large with multiple bedrooms (with sleeping for 10 people) so a whole crew can stay in one house. There are also small houses for smaller groups or individual families. The beach houses and resorts are also ideal for a beach reception (provided this is outlined in your rental agreement). You can see some of the beautiful houses and resorts here… and many of them are a short walk from the beach. Which also means (#4)…

4. You can have a ceremony and reception at one location.

Save yourself the hassle of travel between venues! You can have a ceremony on the beach and a reception at a beach house, just a short walk away.

5. It offers some of the most amazing oceanic views.

Every location offers a stunning, picturesque view. And at night, the sunset over the ocean is incredible!

6. There are activities for you and guests to enjoy.

There are endless things to do right there for you and guests to enjoy all throughout Dare County, from Jockey’s Ridge for sand dune climbing or kite flying, to climbing the tallest lighthouse in America at Cape Hatteras, to paddle-boarding or sailing or golfing on some of the country’s most beautiful golf courses. Or, you can just relax on the beach. There are amazing restaurants, historical landmarks, places to bike and run, fish, and one of my most favorite places in the world is just a drive away: The Elizabethan Gardens. This place is purely magical. If you go to The Outer Banks, you must go here.

7. You can honeymoon right there.

After the wedding, you won’t want to leave… and who says you have to? You can honeymoon right there on The Outer Banks and save yourself the extra time and hassle of more travel.

Don’t just take our word for it: check out some more reasons why The Outer Banks weddings are amazing! You can also get up-to-date information with their e-newsletter and their travel guide. You can also check out more on the official OBX website.

It’s a really beautiful place! If I was planning a beach wedding for a friend, this would be the first place I’d recommend!
