This is home: Waiting for change

We are yet to embark on major works in our new house and after many, many years of living in rentals with dodgy coloured walls I have been dreaming about paint colours for what feels like forever. I have always wanted an orange studio and can't wait to get cracking on covering up the dull pale blue walls with badly painted clouds (the room was once a Doctors consult room and then a baby nursery!). Our Christmas holidays are going to be dedicated to re-vamping the interior of our house and I just can't wait to finally have the walls of my dreams! In the meantime this is probably as good as my studio is going to get until I can have bright walls, awesome pictures hanging up and some proper shelving.

I have just started a new hand embroidery, a cobra snake and it is coming along surprisingly fast.

This is about 1/3 of my thread collection. I recently found some thread tidies in a sewing machine shop and in my haste to get home and reorganise them all I underestimated the size of my collection massively so only these colours are currently organised!

I picked up these educational drug charts in a garage sale over the weekend. The gastrointestinal system is my favourite.

I still can't get over how lucky we are with natural light in this house. Our old place was so dark and dingy that we even needed lights on during summer days. I love how the sunlight floods our hallway.

I am much less drawn to busy spaces now and I have an aversion to clutter but I do enjoy this eclectic collection of things. Most of it is part of our market stall display that will eventually be able to be stored in our shed once it is weatherproofed.

The early morning sun is great on my day bed and perfect for some early stitching. I am yet to fall asleep in here but I can definitely see some summer naps on the agenda, especially after a couple of G&T's!
