Engage NY First Grade Math Resources

I have gotten a ton of questions on my visual plan posts about how I utilize Engage NY in my classroom. For those of you not familiar with the math program, you can check it out and download the whole program for free here. The truth is that I am still trying to figure out how to fit it all in and what I can afford to skip. My suggestion is to really read the lesson from the module. Everything is right there. Yes, the lesson would take you a SUPER long time. Do what you can. I try to alternate what I skip from the program and sometimes we do fluency practice at the end of the day. I do always skip the exit ticket. We do this because we use the exit ticket problems to create mini-topic assessments; the end of module assessments are just way too much. My colleague, Janine Every and I will be working on creating our own assessments to possible post on TpT over the summer. This past summer we focused on revamping our phonics program, with our Words of the Week packet.

I have made a few resources to make using Engage NY a bit easier. I have included the link for the free download at the end of this post.
I placed the modules in separate binders and divided the topics with dividers.
I have included the math module binder covers and spines in the download at the end of this post.

One of the lessons we did this week required the students to use a number path. It is similar to a number line. I felt the students needed number paths they could reuse and created these. You can download these number paths for free at the end of this post.

Another option would be to have the number paths on a work mat. I have created a few versions of these work mats. Use what works for you and your students. I laminate the mats first. Another option would be to place the sheets in page protectors.

Another useful mat to have, is this number bond mat.

Engage NY does not utilize Ten Frames but I feel they are useful. I like to use ten frame work mats and counting chips for "Make a Ten to Add" lessons. I also bought these ten frame stamps from Really Good Stuff. I use them on the math pages where a ten frame could help the students.

I also love these ten frame paddles. I got these from Amazon.com. Here is the link.

I made these double ten frame mats. They are included in the download.

I got to planning ahead a bit and added this Tens and Ones work mat to the download.

If you don't know how to download from Google Drive, check out Rachel Lamb's post {HERE}. DO NOT click REQUEST ACCESS. Those just go to spam.
Here are a few videos I have in a folder on YouTube to help you. I usually go to my teammate Janine Every with questions about the fluency activities.

An Instagram follower shared his districts homework help site with me. Click the image for the link.

I hope this post helped you! I will continue to create and post as I progress through the Engage NY Math Modules with my students.
